The 31st China (Guangzhou) International Furniture Fair officially opened in Guangzhou on the 18th, and this year's event will be held in two phases, from the 18th to the 21st and then from the 27th to the 30th. The first phase focuses on the "big home" theme, showcasing civilian furniture, outdoor furniture, home accessories, and home textiles. The second phase centers around office environment exhibitions. Together, the two exhibitions span a total of 880,000 square meters, with over 4,500 exhibitors participating.
At this fair, more than 1,000 Chinese and international exhibitors from over 20 countries and regions, including the United States, Germany, Italy, and France, as well as companies from provinces like Guangdong and Zhejiang, made a collective appearance. This year, well-known overseas furniture brands have intensified their efforts to capture a larger share of the Chinese market. Notably, Mercedes-Benz, a renowned automotive brand, entered the furniture market for the first time, offering products that reflect its signature design style, using materials reminiscent of those found in its vehicles, making them stand out in a unique way.
Zhu Changling, Chairman of the China Furniture Association, stated that the Chinese furniture industry is experiencing rapid growth. In 2012, enterprises above the designated size achieved a total industrial output value of 559.982 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 17.02%. That same year, Chinese furniture exports reached $49.96 billion, up 28.52% compared to the previous year. He emphasized that the fast development of the furniture industry and the growth of furniture exhibitions are closely linked, highlighting the importance of such events in promoting both domestic and international trade.
