Huashi developed a solar cell conversion efficiency of 18.2%

A reporter recently learned from South China Normal University that the first batch of battery samples from the crystalline silicon solar cell pilot line, independently developed by the Institute of Advanced Materials at the South China Advanced Optoelectronics Research Institute, have successfully gone offline. This marks a significant milestone in the university's ongoing efforts to advance solar cell technology.

The initial batch of solar cells achieved a conversion efficiency of 18.2%, a level that places the technology among the best in the world. This breakthrough represents a major step forward in the university’s research and development in renewable energy, paving the way for the full operation and utilization of the pilot base.

The pilot base was established with support from the university’s "Thousand Talents Program," as well as contributions from Guangdong Province’s leading talent and Dr. Ren Zhifeng, a lifelong professor at the University of Houston. The facility spans approximately 600 square meters and has an annual production capacity of around 7MW. It serves as a crucial platform for further development, including the construction of a 110KWp user-side grid-connected photovoltaic power station system and a 5.32KWp photovoltaic solar tracking system.

Additionally, the project aims to apply proprietary intellectual property technology to develop and industrialize new products, which will be used in national and provincial scientific and technological research projects. The initiative also focuses on cultivating high-level scientific and technological talents and fostering extensive collaboration with companies and research institutions across the industry. With this progress, the university is reinforcing its position as a leader in renewable energy innovation and sustainable development.
