Environmental certification is voluntary

 

At present, the highest standard of environmental protection certification in China is the Chinese environmental label (commonly known as the ten-ring logo), which is a green certification authorized by the State Environmental Protection Administration, and is the only highest authority environmental protection product label issued by the government in China. To obtain this mark, an enterprise must pass the highest-standard product certification of the Environmental Certification Center of the State Environmental Protection Administration composed of representatives from 11 ministries and commissions and well-known experts such as the State Environmental Protection Administration and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. And the country expressly stipulates that only products that have passed the "Ten Ring Certification" can be called "green products". In addition, the most authoritative environmental protection certification in the domestic furniture industry is China Quality and Environmental Protection Product Certification (CQC). Products that have obtained CQC certification have the advantages of low toxicity, less harm, and resource conservation.

 

The environmental protection standards applied in China are mainly for the detection of chemical substances such as "formaldehyde emission", "heavy metal content", "voc content", "benzene". But even the use of green building materials can not guarantee the elimination of formaldehyde and other over-standards. If the inspection is not strict during production and processing, it cannot be guaranteed that it is environmentally friendly. At present, the country's green building materials system has not yet been established, and the standards are relatively lacking. Now it is based on the "Limiting Standards for Toxic and Harmful Substances in Interior Decoration Materials". It can only be regarded as an entry-level standard, which is not enough for relatively green requirements. Regarding the environmental protection certification of home improvement building materials, the state does not have mandatory regulations, but adopts a voluntary principle, which leads to confusion in environmental protection certification.

 

Solid wood does not mean environmental protection

 

At present, the furniture market is scrambling for the title of "solid wood furniture". When asked whether it is solid wood furniture, it is almost a word. However, Mr. Liu, who has been engaged in interior decoration for many years, told reporters that in fact, there are not many real solid wood furniture on the market today. Many furniture are manufactured using a combination of solid wood and artificial board.

 

Solid wood furniture is not synonymous with environmental protection. Solid wood furniture also has many disadvantages, such as poor weather resistance, the color will change from light to dark, from bright to dark under the irradiation of light; after a long period of oxidation, it will gradually fade; in addition, it also has the physical characteristics of shrinkage ,easily transformed. Therefore, the current ratio of solid wood furniture on the market is not very high. Actually, there are more furniture combined with wood and wood. The main frame is made of solid wood, and the side boards and partitions use thin wood veneer chipboard or MDF. This process avoids the cracking and warping of furniture due to the large area of ​​solid wood, while maintaining the beautiful texture of pure natural logs.

 

        The paint painted on the solid wood furniture also determines whether the furniture will emit toxic and harmful substances, so even if the plate is made of pure solid wood, it may not be absolutely environmentally friendly. When I was visiting the furniture market, I also encountered salespeople creating nouns and false propaganda, calling the particle board 'solid wood particle board' such a ridiculous thing. I suggest that consumers should not be too blind when buying furniture.

 

Quality Supervision has launched an investigation

 

Recently, the Municipal Quality Supervision Bureau has organized a special survey on the environmental certification of the city's furniture market. The person in charge of the Technology and Certification Supervision Section of the Municipal Quality Supervision Bureau introduced that the Municipal Quality Supervision Bureau will focus on investigating whether the furniture sold has the qualification information such as labels / signages, factory certifications, quality inspection reports, and whether the instructions for use are actually The control indicators such as toxic substances or radioactivity contained shall be explained, and whether the furniture obtained the certification of environmental protection products shall be affixed with relevant certification marks in accordance with regulations.

 

The Municipal Quality Supervision Bureau will seriously investigate and deal with counterfeit certification marks and false certification publicity in the furniture market. The quality supervision department reminds consumers that when buying furniture, they must be carefully identified from the table and inside, and try to buy furniture from merchants with after-sales service protection, so as to facilitate compensation in case of problems.
