AutoCAD ring array operation strategy

Arrays are a form of AutoCAD replication that tends to be more advantageous than pure replication when performing regular multiple copies. In AUTOCAD, arrays are divided into two basic types: rectangular arrays and circular arrays.

Rectangular Array - performs multi-row and multi-column copying and controls the number of rows and columns and the spacing of rows/columns.
Ring Array—Locates the center of the specified ring to determine the radius of the ring (that is, a circle). Isometric replication on the circumference around this center. And can control the number of copied objects and decide whether to rotate the copy.

Specific command buttons and menus: We can click the Array button on the Modify toolbar. Or the menu "Modify" - "Array". Enter the command at the command line: _array and finally open the Array dialog.

Ring array options and steps

If you select Ring Array, the options are different:

Center point

Specifies the center point of the circular array. Specified by the coordinate values of the input X and Y axes.

You can also use the click method to select a point to specify the center of the circle. The Array dialog is temporarily closed to specify the center point in the AutoCAD drawing area.

Select object

Specifies the object used to construct the array. You can select objects before or after the Array dialog is displayed. To select an object after the Array dialog is displayed, select Select Object. The Array dialog will be temporarily closed. When the object selection is complete, press ENTER. The Array dialog will reappear and the selected object will appear under the Select Object button.

method

Set the method used to locate the object.

Divided into "the total number of projects and fill angles" "the total number of projects and the angle between projects" "fill angle and the angle between projects" several.

Total number of projects

Sets the total number of copies copied by the array. The default value is 4.

Fill angle

Set the array size by defining the angle between the first and last objects in the array. A positive value specifies a counterclockwise rotation. A negative value specifies a clockwise rotation. The default is 360. The value is not allowed to be 0.

This angle allows you to enter a value or pick an angle to fill, which temporarily closes the Array dialog box, defining the angle between the first and last in the array.

Project angle

This value is automatically calculated based on the fill angle and the total number of items.

Rotate item when copying

Rotate/do not rotate the object in the direction of the array.

Steps to create a circular array

1. Draw a large circle and a small circle with the center of the small circle on the circumference of the circle. Choose Array from the Modify menu.

2. Select Ring Array in the Array dialog.

3. Specify the midpoint - specify the center of the circle by entering the coordinate value or specifying the point. Here we select the center of the big circle so that the small circle is arrayed around it.

4. Select "Select Object". The Array dialog closes and AutoCAD prompts you to select an object. We choose the small circle.

5. In the Method box, select the method for the circular array:

Here we select "Number of projects and filling methods".

6. Select whether to rotate the object while in the array.

7. Click "Preview", click "Accept" if appropriate, and click "Modify" if it is not appropriate, you will return to the "Circular Array" dialog box.

8. Click "OK" to generate a circular array.

The objects that come out of the array are independent, not a whole, and can be edited separately.

If used skillfully, some decorative patterns will also be made. As shown in the figure, the center of the ellipse is used as the center point, and the "Rotate item when copying" option is selected. The total number of items is 24.

In short, the array is an efficient and practical method of copying. Mastering the above options and methods and familiarizing them with the application will bring us a lot of convenience.
