Floor wax use
At home, you might not have a waxing machine, but you can still keep your floors looking shiny and new with just a sponge, a towel, or a mop. Here's how to use different types of floor wax effectively: First, there’s pressure canned wax, also known as non-abrasive high-gloss wax. It doesn’t need to be diluted—just spray it directly onto the floor or onto a dry cloth, then wipe it down. This method is fast, even, and gives a very bright finish. However, it uses up quickly (about 10 square meters per can), so it's not ideal for large areas or regular maintenance. Next, hand spray bottle wax, often called water wax. Again, no dilution is needed. Spray it directly on the floor, let it dry for around 20 minutes, then use a flat pad or cloth to polish it. It’s relatively quick to apply, but you need to make sure the application is even. The floor becomes quite slippery after use, which makes it more suitable for daily cleaning rather than long-term protection. Then there’s canned solid wax, also known as traditional floor wax. This one needs to be spread using a sponge, without dilution. Once applied, let it dry for about 40 minutes, then buff it with a clean towel. It creates a protective wax film, which helps preserve the floor. However, the surface may feel slightly sticky after use. This wax is best suited for older floors that have been used for a while and are looking for that classic, polished look. It’s not recommended for new floors. Bottled liquid wax, sometimes referred to as milk wax, is another popular option. Like the solid wax, it doesn’t require dilution. Use a sponge to spread it over the floor, let it dry for about 40 minutes, then polish with a towel. It’s easier to work with than solid wax and still forms a protective layer. It provides a noticeable shine and is widely used in homes due to its ease of application. You’ll need to reapply it every 30 days for best results. Finally, there's high-grade wood wax, made from natural beeswax. At room temperature, it’s solid, but it softens when warmed by body heat, making it easy to apply. Spread it with a sponge, let it dry for about 10 minutes, then polish with a towel. It’s highly efficient—each bottle covers up to 100 square meters—and lasts up to 180 days before needing a reapplication. It not only creates a protective wax film but also adds a natural, moisturizing effect. It’s cost-effective and perfect for everyday use at home.
