Floor wax use
At home, you might not have a waxing machine, but you can still achieve a shiny and protected floor using just a sponge, a towel, or a mop. Here’s how to use different types of floor waxes effectively: Pressure canned wax, also known as non-abrasive high-gloss wax, is ideal for quick and even application. You don’t need to dilute it—simply spray it directly onto the floor or onto a dry cloth and wipe it down. This method is fast, gives a bright finish, and covers about 10 square meters per can. However, due to its high consumption rate, it's not the best option for large flooring areas. Hand spray bottle wax, or water-based wax, is another common choice. It’s applied by spraying directly onto the floor and letting it dry for around 20 minutes before polishing with a flat pad. It dries quickly and provides a shiny surface, but it can make the floor slippery. Because of its lower safety and higher usage volume, it’s best suited for daily maintenance rather than deep cleaning or long-term protection. Canned solid wax, often referred to as traditional floor wax, requires more effort. You apply it with a sponge without diluting, let it dry for about 40 minutes, then polish it with a towel. This type of wax forms a protective film on the floor, giving it a classic look. However, it leaves a slightly sticky surface and is better suited for older floors that have already developed a worn-in appearance. Not recommended for new or delicate surfaces. Bottled liquid wax, also called milk wax, is similar to solid wax in terms of application but easier to spread. Apply it with a sponge, let it dry for 40 minutes, and then polish with a towel. It creates a smooth wax film that protects the floor and gives a noticeable shine. Since it’s easier to work with, it’s a popular choice for most households. Reapplication is usually needed every 30 days. High-grade wood wax, made from natural beeswax, is a premium option. It becomes soft at body temperature (above 36°C) and solid below that. Apply it with a sponge, let it dry in about 10 minutes, then polish with a towel. This wax offers a unique moisturizing effect and forms a durable protective layer. Each bottle can cover up to 100 square meters and lasts about 180 days. It’s economical, easy to use, and perfect for everyday home use.
