Popular science: Where did the lithium come from?

Lithium is the lightest element after hydrogen and helium, but its origin and production process has been unclear. A study by the National Astronomical Observatory's research team found that a new star explosion may be the main source of lithium in the current universe. This discovery will help to understand the evolution of the matter of the universe.

A new star is a bright star that happens by chance in the sky. Astronomers and astronomy enthusiasts discover several new stars every year. The shining principle of the new star is that when the star enters the old age, its center will shrink inward, while the outer shell expands outward, which will throw off the outer shell and release a lot of energy, which will increase its brightness by many times.

The team used the "Pleiades" astronomical telescope on the Hawaiian island of the United States to observe the "Dolphin Nova 2013" discovered by the Japanese astronomy enthusiast Akihabara in August 2013.

The team observed the new star after about 50 days of its discovery and analyzed the light it emitted. It found that there was a large amount of plutonium in the gas that was scattered after the explosion. Since helium will become lithium after decay, the research team believes that the new star explosion is a "synthesis factory" of lithium.
