Notably, Shandong Yanggu Xiangguang Copper Industry Co., Ltd. increased its offer price by RMB 10 per ton, driven mainly by a sharp rise in the price of **copper concentrate**, which has led to reduced enthusiasm among factories for procurement. As a result, many companies have shifted toward using smelting acid for their production processes.
Additionally, Luxi Chemical and Jinan Yuxing Chemical Co., Ltd. have started to collect **copper concentrate** from outside Yanggu, with daily processing reaching approximately 2,000 tons. This has helped ease the pressure on Yanggu’s inventory levels. Meanwhile, the Dongying Complex is scheduled to shut down for maintenance on September 1st, which is expected to lead to higher inventory prices in the coming weeks.
Another key factor is the Lubei compound fertilizer plant, which is ramping up operations on the 20th. It needs to import 20,000 tons of raw materials for production, further boosting demand for smelting acid. All these factors combined are providing strong support to the acid market, making the recent price adjustment in Yanggu an inevitable outcome.
According to market analysis, the price of **copper concentrate** has been on an upward trend, putting pressure on downstream sulphonic acid plants. The low cost of smelting acid has taken advantage of the current market conditions, leading to limited production at sulphonic acid plants, with some even halting operations to reduce inventory and sales pressure. Additionally, the demand for sulphite has declined slightly.
However, due to the increased demand for smelting acid from the fertilizer sector, the market is expected to see a period of temporary stability in the coming weeks.
