Jaguar Land Rover Automobile Company recalls some vehicles due to loosening of fixing bolts

Jaguar Land Rover Motor Company has initiated a recall for certain imported Land Rover Range Rover Aurora and Freelander 2 models. The company, Jaguar Land Rover Auto Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., submitted a recall report to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. The recall will begin on December 25, 2012, and includes specific batches of vehicles manufactured in 2012 and 2013.
The first batch involves 190 units of the 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Aurora and Freelander 2 models produced on June 11, 2012. According to internal data, these vehicles are affected by a manufacturing defect. The rear brake caliper’s fixed torque value does not meet the design specifications. Over time, the fixing bolts may loosen, leading to unusual noises and potentially causing brake failure. In severe cases, this could result in sudden tire disintegration, posing a serious safety risk to drivers and passengers.
The second batch consists of 147 units of the 2012 and 2013 Land Rover Range Rover Aurora models manufactured between August 20 and September 18, 2012. These vehicles also suffer from a manufacturing issue, where the steering Gear's fixed torque value is below the required standard. At low speeds, drivers may notice abnormal noises coming from the front of the vehicle. The loosening of the fixing bolts can cause the steering gear to become unstable, making it difficult or impossible to steer. This poses a significant safety hazard and increases the risk of accidents.
Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to contact their local Jaguar Land Rover dealerships as soon as possible to schedule a free inspection and necessary repairs.
