Jaguar Land Rover Motor Company has initiated a recall for certain imported Land Rover Range Rover Aurora and Freelander 2 models. The company, Jaguar Land Rover Auto Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., has officially submitted a recall report to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. The recall will take effect starting December 25, 2012.
The first batch involves 190 units of the 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Aurora and Freelander 2 models produced on June 11, 2012. According to internal data, these vehicles are affected by a manufacturing issue. Specifically, the rear brake caliper’s fixed torque value does not meet the design specifications. Over time, the fixing bolts may loosen, leading to unusual noises and potentially causing the brakes to fail. In severe cases, this could result in sudden tire failure, posing a serious safety risk to drivers and passengers.
The second recall concerns 147 units of the 2012 and 2013 Land Rover Range Rover Aurora models manufactured between August 20 and September 18, 2012. These vehicles suffer from a similar problem related to the steering Gear. The fixed torque value of the steering gear is below the required standard. At low speeds, this can cause abnormal noises from the front of the vehicle. If the fixing bolts become loose during use, the steering gear may not be properly secured, making it difficult or impossible for the driver to steer the vehicle. This presents a significant safety hazard.
Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to contact their local Jaguar Land Rover dealership as soon as possible to schedule a free inspection and necessary repairs. The company has assured customers that all recalled vehicles will be addressed promptly to ensure their safety on the road. For more information, consumers can visit the official website of the AQSIQ or reach out directly to the manufacturer.
