Gear industry is the key foundation of China's equipment manufacturing industry

The parts represented by gears are not only the basic industries of China's equipment manufacturing industry, but also an important foundation in all fields of national economic construction. As a part of mechanical transmission that transmits motion and power, the gear is both a main transmission part and a moving part. It is a key component in many high-end mechanical equipment fields such as automobiles and machine tools, and usually determines the main functions of the overall equipment. It is understood that as one of the three major markets of the gear industry, vehicle gears account for 62% of the total gear market, of which automotive gears account for 62% of the vehicle gear market share.

In other words, the gears used in automobiles account for nearly 40% of the entire gear market, showing the importance of gears for the automotive industry.

Zhao Zhenye, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said that the main failure modes of gears include fatigue including bending fatigue and contact fatigue. For a long time, short life, poor reliability, and heavy structure have become the three major problems that restrict the development and safe use of China's gear industry, and "formed" manufacturing is the main reason for the formation of three major problems.

After more than 20 years of research and practice, Academician Zhao Zhenye and his team have integrated design, materials and manufacturing technology to form a set of stress-free concentrated anti-fatigue long-life manufacturing technology theory and system method with dual characteristics of military and civilian with Chinese characteristics. Through the practice and application in the field of aviation, the feasibility of anti-fatigue gear manufacturing theory is proved.

Through the new concept of anti-fatigue machining and surface composite hardening technology and surface composite modification technology, the life of the gear can reach tens to hundreds of times under the original "forming" processing state, greatly improving the key part of the gear. Reliability, while also greatly reducing the weight of the gear components, thus becoming a realistic way for China to independently manufacture high-end gears.

The development of advanced AMT, DCT, CVT and multi-speed AT automatic transmission assembly, as well as the development of energy-saving and environmentally-friendly automatic transmission key components, high-precision low-noise long-life large and medium-sized spiral bevel gears, high-precision automobile gears, etc. During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, the gear industry focused on the development of projects and projects; and the high-end gear manufacturing technology that is resistant to fatigue and longevity is a predictable breakthrough for the Chinese gear industry to achieve these major projects and key projects. The gear industry needs to be led by independent core technologies that can realize industrialization, gather industry-university research resources of the whole industry, jointly innovate, overcome industrial common technologies, and reverse the passive situation of high-end major equipment gear transmissions relying on imports for a long time.
